We prioritise independent venues with a clear identity, consistent quality, and a genuine connection to their neighbourhood and community.
This includes neighbourhood cafés, bars, shops, and experiences
— not just
destination venues or headline locations.
Why participate?
Passport holders are motivated visitors. They are actively looking for places worth discovering and are ready to engage, stay longer, and return.
The passport is not a directory or advertising platform. It is a carefully edited selection that people trust.
Participation is limited to maintain quality and balance.
How it works for venues
Each participating business receives a dedicated two-page spread inside the passport, including photos, directions, a short introduction, and your chosen perk.
When a passport holder visits, you offer the listed perk, stamp their page (we'll get you an amazing unique stamp with your venue name on it) and write down the date. Each perk can be redeemed once per venue.
Passports are valid for seven days from the visitor’s first stamp.
Curation and participation
Participating venues contribute a fixed fee to support the production, printing, and distribution of the Phnom Penh Passport.
Inclusion is curated independently and based on quality, character, and fit — not on sponsorship or ranking.
Fees vary per edition and are shared with venues once an application has been reviewed. For reference, participation typically works out at less than the cost of a single coconut per day over the validity period.
We prioritise independent venues with a clear identity and a genuine connection to the city.
We regularly speak to venue owners who have been approached with vague offers
and unrealistic promises in the past.
The Phnom Penh Passport is intentionally limited,
transparent, and designed to be simple for participating venues.
Below are the most common questions we receive from businesses considering participation.
Frequently Asked Questions from business owners
We don’t promise foot traffic, numbers, or exposure metrics. The Phnom Penh Passport is a physical, curated guide used by visitors who actively choose to explore independent venues. It’s not an ad platform, coupon book, or directory. Participation helps cover production and distribution costs of a limited editorial publication. There are no surprise fees, upsells, or post-print charges.

Very little. The process is intentionally simple for staff: one perk, one stamp, no tracking required. There’s no reporting, no codes, and no follow-up administration beyond stamping the passport.
We don’t promise volume. Passport holders are motivated visitors who actively explore listed venues over a seven-day period. Some venues see a handful of visits, others more — but all visits are intentional and discovery-driven.
Participation involves a contribution toward production costs and offering one clear perk for passport holders. Perks are redeemed once per passport, helping keep costs predictable. Many venues choose a percentage discount, a welcome drink, or a small complimentary item.
Choose something simple, clear, and easy for staff to apply. Typical perks include a discount on the total bill, a welcome drink or cocktail for two, or a small complimentary item. We discourage complicated or “buy one get one free” offers.
Yes. The Phnom Penh Passport is published by the team behind Lord Penh, Phnom Penh’s independent event guide, which has been curating and promoting cultural and independent activity in the city since 2025 (and as LadyPenh from 2009 to 2016).
There isn’t one. We don’t guarantee results, don’t upsell visibility, and participation applies to a single quarterly edition only. The passport is limited, curated, and designed to be used — not to promise outcomes.
